text 2 Jan 2009... 2010->

2009 was a productive year for me as a web designer. I feel like I really have moved to another level. I have to say that the most valuable skill I gained in 2009 was increasing my comfort level with Linux and the commandline in general. Far to many web designers over look this area. The fear factor is probably the biggest reason for this. It’s really not that bad, if you make web sites you should try to drop into the commandline in 2010. You may be surprised by how much you like it.

One of the coolest things about 2009 was jump starting the Fresno Drupal User Group. I have never been involved in anything like it. The group had been online but was pretty much dead. After attending the 2008 LA Drupal Camp, I really wanted to be a part of making a Drupal group in Fresno happen. I knew there were several Drupal users in Fresno and I knew Dan Serrato and Jerry Martin would be up for getting the group going. I can say that being a part of building a community has been very rewarding, though it can take you out of your comfort zone. I am so glad that we did it. We plan to make 2010 an even better year for the the Fresno Drupal User Group.

I’m excited about what 2010 will bring. I should finish my Bachelors degree in March which will free up more time for family. I would love to play more music and get into martial arts in 2010 in addition to shedding a few pounds. I feel so blessed to be able to do something I truly enjoy for a living and I don’t plan to take that for granted in 2010.
